Insurance companies generally offer lower rates to married couples. But what about LGBT couples? Shouldn't the same logic apply?
At Esurance, we think it should. In fact, we were one of the very first car insurance companies to extend the married rate to the LGBT community. And we now offer it to our motorcycle insurance customers too.
Today, you can get this rate in all states where we do business, except Florida and North Carolina where it's not approved by the department of insurance. Massachusetts does not allow the married rate, regardless of gender. Registered domestic partners in California should choose "Domestic partner (registered)" to receive this rate. In New York, you must be married to qualify.
