San Francisco, CA — Septemeber 14, 2009
Esurance, the direct-to-consumer personal auto insurance company, proudly announced that it has earned a 100-percent rating in the Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the third year in a row. The CEI is an annual survey administered by the Human Rights Campaign. Esurance joins the ranks of 305 other major U.S. businesses that get top marks for their treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) employees and consumers.
Gary Tolman, Esurance CEO, stated, "Esurance is honored to achieve a 100-percent rating from the Human Rights Campaign for our third year in a row. Our company has emphasized treating all of our associates and customers fairly and equally since our inception almost 10 years ago, and we're very proud of the Human Rights Campaign's continued recognition of this."
The CEI rated 595 businesses in total, evaluating LGBT-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination policies, transgender health benefits, and domestic partner benefits. Esurance's efforts in ensuring LGBT equality in each of the survey's main criterion earned it the prestigious 100-percent ranking.
