What if I drive more than 10,000 miles in a year?
No problem, you can drive as much as you want. You pay by the mile, whether you drive 1,000 or 11,000 miles. Of course, the fewer miles you drive, the more you save.
How do you track my miles?
We'll send you a small device that plugs into the dashboard of your car and records your mileage and GPS location. This information will only be used to determine your monthly mileage cost and won't affect your base cost.
Am I eligible for Esurance Pay Per Mile?
As long as you have current auto insurance, and your car is a model-year 1996 or later (and isn't electric or hybrid), you're good to go. The Esurance Pay Per Mile device connects to your vehicle's onboard diagnostics (OBD-II) port, which became standard in most vehicles in 1996, with the exception of hybrid and electric vehicles, among a few others. If you plan to insure multiple vehicles with Esurance Pay Per Mile, they all need to meet these requirements.
Note: if you're a new driver and haven't needed car insurance before, you may still be eligible for Esurance Pay Per Mile. Just call 1-800-ESURANCE (1-800-378-7262) to find out more.
What if I don't drive at all?
If you don't drive at all, you only pay the monthly base cost. Just be sure to keep your device plugged in (whether you drive or not).
How much will a road trip cost?
You only pay for the first 150 miles you drive each day. Anything above that is on us, so don't worry about road trips or high-mileage days.
Do you offer full coverage?
Yes. With Esurance Pay Per Mile, you'll have all the same coverage options that you would with an unlimited-mileage policy.
How do I log in?
When you sign up, you'll set up a log in for your policyholder account at esurance.com, where you can manage your payments, daily mileage costs, coverages, and take advantage of our other modern tools. You'll also receive a login and password for a separate Esurance Pay Per Mile account, where you can set alerts, monitor your detailed trip history, and view your GPS data.
What if I want to cancel?
You can cancel your Esurance Pay Per Mile policy at any time. A one-time cancellation fee of $50 will apply, but the fee will be waived if you switch to an unlimited mileage policy with Esurance. The Esurance Pay Per Mile device will need to be returned if the policy is canceled (we'll provide a prepaid return label for your convenience) or a $100 restocking fee may be charged. You'll receive your final bill 2 days after the cancellation effective date.
