Health care reform and you

On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed the Affordable Health Care Act, putting in place comprehensive reforms to make health insurance cost-effective for everyone. And in June of this year, the Supreme Court ruled that this act is constitutional — meaning that you can expect more changes to health care in the coming years.

Here are some key aspects to know about how this could affect your health insurance:

Your children could stay on your policy until they turn 26. Even if your children are married, not living with you, or attending school, they could still be eligible for coverage under your plan.
You could get free preventive services. Under the new law, you and your family could receive recommended preventive health services (like screenings, vaccinations, counseling) without having to pay a copay or deductible.
You'll be required to carry basic health insurance. Effective January 1, 2014, those who don't have health insurance and can afford it will be obliged to obtain coverage — or pay a fee to help offset the costs of caring for the uninsured.

Though the new health care requirement isn't yet in effect, now is the perfect time to find a
reliable health insurance policy. And Esurance can help. Get a quote today to see how affordable health insurance can be for you and your family.
