Iowa riders must carry liability insurance with the following minimum limits:
- $20,000 bodily injury per person
- $40,000 bodily injury per incident
- $15,000 property damage per incident
If you cause an accident, liability coverage goes to work helping cover others' damages, up to your limit. So, for instance, if you crashed into someone's car and you had the minimum limits on your policy, your insurance would cover up to $15,000 for their vehicle repairs.
For greater protection, you can always select more coverage than the bare minimum (and it's typically a wise move).
