Esurance and the Texas Trees Foundation Partner to Bring Trees & Technology to Dallas Schools
Dallas — November 2, 2011
Esurance is teaming up with the Texas Trees Foundation to bring greater awareness about trees and technology to the classrooms at two Dallas Independent School District schools.
Students at Skyline High School and Seagoville High School will have the opportunity to plan and participate in a community planting project. This will include planting 30 trees on the school campuses, creating an online tree registration and "tree trail," and taking part in an online video contest. The students will also learn about proper tree planting techniques, the value of trees, careers in urban forestry, the use of technology in forestry, and community project planning.
Skyline and Seagoville were selected to be part of the program because of their available planting areas, need for tree canopy, and academic programs that closely tied to the Trees & Technology program.
"Esurance is investing in the future of our citizens, our air and water, and our quality of life by presenting the Trees & Technology Program," said Texas Trees Foundation President and CEO Janette Monear. "Esurance has been a long-time partner of the Foundation and we appreciate their support of education, tree planting, and greening North Texas."
"Esurance strives to be at the forefront of innovation, and the Trees & Technology Program was a natural fit for us," said Esurance Brand Partnerships Manager Joann Lee. "We try to make a difference in the communities where our associates live and work, and our support for the Texas Trees Foundation will help make sure more trees are here for future generations."
What's more, the Texas Trees Foundation is creating a regional approach to urban forestry programming in partnership with municipalities and individuals to better meet environmental challenges such as air and water quality. This newly formed initiative will allow the Foundation to improve the quality of life for community residents and visitors alike.
Texas Trees Foundation is a private nonprofit dedicated to creating healthy communities by protecting and enhancing the urban forest while investing in people.
