raising awareness

As a longtime supporter of Pride events around the country, Esurance is one of the few car insurance companies to offer the married rate — a significant savings opportunity — to domestic partners in nearly every state where we do business.

We've also helped raise awareness for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) issues through donation campaigns that have benefited The Trevor Project, GLAAD, and PFLAG.

In 2014, we launched our ePride Employee Resource Group made up of LGBT associates and their allies. The group uses community outreach and workplace collaboration to increase awareness of LGBT issues. Members of the group have also represented Esurance at local Pride events.

Supporting our veterans

The Esurance Veterans Engagement Team and Supporters (EVETS) program brings together veterans and family/friends of veterans within our company to offer one another support and help recruit former military personnel to Esurance. The group also partners with community outreach programs serving military members and their families.

Women's Innovation Network (WIN)

WIN is an Employee Resource Group dedicated to supporting women in the workplace. The group provides leadership development opportunities for the women at Esurance and champions work/life balance initiatives for all associates.

An inclusive, barrier-free workplace

eBility promotes leadership and professional development opportunities for associates who have disabilities or who have family members with disabilities. By creating an environment that's physically, technologically, and culturally accessible, the group works to help members reach their full potential.

Opportunities for development

Our Young Professional Association (YPA) is dedicated to supporting career and personal development of Esurance associates who are young — or young at heart.

volunteering and donations

We also encourage and support numerous volunteering efforts, and our associates play a huge role in our level of community involvement.

Giving back

Esurance doesn't just encourage volunteering, we also provide the means to make it happen. Throughout the year, we coordinate volunteer days to connect our associates with worthwhile causes. From reading with kids, to planting trees, to building homes for families in need, our collective efforts have made a lasting impact on our communities.

In our San Francisco headquarters, we've teamed up with the NBA's Golden State Warriors for the WE G.I.V.E. (Guide, Inspire, Volunteer, and Educate) program. Esurance associates have donated time to the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, and San Francisco Recreation and Parks.

Volunteering initiatives

Through our Give Time/Get Time program, Esurance rewards associates with extra paid time off for volunteering. Each associate is given 4 hours to use while volunteering, plus 4 hours of PTO to use as they choose.

Additionally, when an associate volunteers 25 hours to one organization, Esurance will donate $500 to that organization through our Dollars for Doers grant program.

Disaster Relief Efforts

In the latter half of 2017, the country was struck with a series of natural disasters: hurricanes, floods, and wildfires — even in our own backyard. Through coordinated efforts, the Esurance team came together to roll up our sleeves and help out at food banks and volunteer centers in those places hit hardest. Clocking in at a collective 444 hours of volunteer time, the Esurance community packed over 93,000 pounds of food to distribute to our neighbors. Our job as an insurer is to help people in their time of need, but this effort really showed our passion to help others.

Week of Service

The Week of Service is a way for Esurance associates to give back to their local communities. In 2014, associates from 16 Esurance offices participated, volunteering in 19 locations nationwide. Activities included helping students with their writing skills, engaging seniors through constructive dialogue, renovating museums, walking for autism, and feeding the needy across the country.

Recycled Rides

When cars are totaled, they're given a salvage title and usually sent to the scrap yard. But since 2008, Esurance has donated vehicles from our salvage inventory to Recycled Rides, a program that takes donated (totaled) vehicles, fixes them up, and gives them to families and service organizations in need.

Matching Gift Program

The Esurance Matching Gift Program gives associates the opportunity to have donations to their favorite nonprofit organizations matched dollar for dollar by Esurance.

In 2014, the program matched $95,000. And in 2015 Esurance is increasing our donation match up to $5,000 per associate!
