Dear Policyholder,

I am pleased to introduce the inaugural edition of our policyholder newsletter. We plan to send this to you three times a year, in the hope that we provide you with useful and timely information without sending you too many emails. In our first edition, we showcase the environment, since Arbor Day and Earth Day celebrations are just around the corner.

As you may already know, Esurance is very proud of our commitment to the environment. Esurance policyholders should also take pride in the fact that you help reduce paper use with our easy, electronic documents. Your insurance company also provides corporate support for several local organizations that help plant trees and create green spaces.

These are just a few of the ways Esurance fulfills our pledge to help “save some green.” Thank you for supporting our company. I hope you enjoy our first policyholder newsletter. Until the next time, drive safely!

Best Regards,
Gary Tolman
Esurance President & CEO

Make Every Day Earth Day!

Whether you celebrate it on March 20th or April 22nd, Earth Day is a great way to raise environmental awareness and get people involved. As a company determined to save some green, Esurance believes in celebrating Earth Day 365 days a year. You can too with our tips on everyday ways to make this Earth a little greener, both on and off the road.

On the Road

  • Take public transportation. Fewer cars on the road means less carbon dioxide in the air. If public transportation is available in your area, it can be a great alternative to driving. Likewise, walking, rollerblading, and bike riding are all great forms of exercise that can also help you avoid costly gas prices and aggravating traffic.

  • Carpool. Believe it or not, every gallon of gas your car burns puts 20 pounds of carbon dioxide in the air. By sharing your commute with even just one other person, you'd be cutting that amount in half. You may even find that your city offers organized ride shares for commuters. Not only will you save on gas, you’ll make new friends!

  • Drive a fuel-efficient vehicle. Next time you're in the market for a new car, consider a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). Hybrid vehicles can reduce the emission of smog-forming pollutants by up to 90% and cut carbon dioxide emissions in half! That's why Esurance uses hybrid claims vehicles wherever they're available. For more information on HEVs, check out the Esurance Insight, Make a Statement, Help the Environment, & Save on Auto Expenses.

Off the Road

  • Recycle. It seems so simple, but sticking your bottle, can, or paper into the recycle bin helps preserve our natural resources immensely. Reusing non-recyclable containers and bags is another easy way to conserve.

  • Buy smart. Look for products with little or no packaging, and buy larger sizes to avoid excess waste. In addition, buying reusable (non-disposable) products, such as razors, utensils, and cameras cuts down on waste and can save you money in the long run.

  • Print less. Whether you're at work or at home, ask yourself: “Do I really need to print that document?” As an Esurance policyholder, you never have to print your policy documents because they're always available to you in your online account! If you do print, try making your margins slightly smaller and printing on both sides of the paper.

  • Pay your bills online. Not only do you save time, the company saves paper by not sending you a bill. By communicating with our customers by email and automatically withdrawing payments when they're due, Esurance avoids sending millions of sheets of paper to our policyholders. We even plant trees to offset the paper we do use.

      Esurance in Your Community

    • Esurance teamed with the Texas Trees Foundation to plant over 21,000 trees in Dallas's Hamilton Park Urban Tree Farm. Some of our very own "tree-hugging" associates volunteered and helped plant over 8,000 trees at the dedication ceremony.

    • In San Francisco, CA, Esurance is proud to work with Friends of the Urban Forest. This year, Esurance is the presenting sponsor of their 25th anniversary gala. For more information on the organization that's planted over half the trees in San Francisco, visit www.fuf.net.

    • We're having a ball gearing up for the 2006 baseball season by sponsoring major and minor league teams in San Francisco, Sacramento, Sioux Falls, Las Vegas, Kane County, and Fort Worth. We hope you have a chance to catch these teams in action.

    • In Alameda, CA, Esurance sponsored a discussion on "Media Literacy and Body Image" presented by Girls Incorporated of the Island City, an organization devoted to helping today's girls become the strong, smart, and bold leaders of tomorrow.
