Trees
In 2005, we began planting trees in our hometown communities and, since then, have
planted more than 92,000. Whew!

In addition to all their other cool benefits, trees can also be a plus from a business perspective. Recent studies indicate that trees enhance traffic safety by making a street look narrower, which helps to slow drivers down. Reduced speed, especially in residential areas, results in fewer accidents. And fewer accidents, of course, mean better auto insurance rates for our customers.

We also work to eliminate paper use as much as we can (because, as you know, paper comes from trees). To do this, we make policy documents available to our policyholders online, store documents electronically, and email our customers whenever possible. It all adds up.

Hybrids
With a claims fleet that's 100% hybrid, we reduce our driving emissions of smog-forming pollutants by up to 90%, and cut carbon dioxide emissions in half.

Offsets (ours and yours)
We're proud to work with NativeEnergy to offset 100% of the electricity use in all of our permanent office locations nationwide. We currently do this by purchasing renewable energy credits through the Langdon Wind Energy Project. We also offset the carbon emissions from our fleet of hybrids through reforestation projects in Louisiana.
