Personal injury protection (PIP)
PIP covers your reasonable expenses if you or your passengers are injured in an auto accident, regardless of fault.
- Medical expenses – These may include medical and surgical treatment; dental treatment; ambulance services; and prosthetic devices.
- Lost wages – If you or your passengers are unable to work due to accident-related injuries, PIP helps you recover a portion of your lost income.
- Essential services – Should you need help performing household duties or other tasks due to accident-related injuries, PIP helps pay for such substitute services.
- Child care benefits – If child care is necessary due to accident-related injuries, PIP will help pay for child care benefits.

Uninsured motorist bodily injury
The limits for this coverage must be less than, or equal to, the limits you select for your bodily injury coverage. Also, if you want to carry this coverage on multiple vehicles, the limits must be the same for each vehicle.
If you're injured in an accident caused by a driver who has no insurance coverage, uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage covers the following expenses:
- Medical
- Lost wages
- Other general damages
- Injuries sustained in hit-and-run accidents
Uninsured motorist bodily injury provides coverage to the policyholder, authorized policy members, and passengers.
How much protection does this coverage provide?
If the other driver involved in an accident is uninsured, this coverage pays up to the limits you purchase.
If the other driver is underinsured, and you choose uninsured motorist bodily injury limits greater than $25,000/$50,000, this coverage pays the difference between what's covered by the other driver's insurance and what's covered by your uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage.
If the limits you purchase are lower than an accident's costs, you'll be responsible for paying the amount over your limits, unless you're covered by health insurance.
