getting a quote on personal watercraft insurance
Getting an insurance quote for your PWC couldn't be easier, but here are some things you might like to know before diving in.

Can I cover my PWC through Esurance?
So long as your Jet Ski®, SEA-DOO®, WaveRunner®, or other personal watercraft meets U.S. Coast Guard standards, has a top speed under 75 mph, and is valued under $27,000, you can get PWC insurance through Esurance.
You can start your PWC insurance quote online, anytime.
Is PWC insurance available where I live?
You can get your personal watercraft insured through Esurance anywhere in the United States, except in Washington, D.C.
Note: Some states may impose unique requirements and limitations. You can check with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners to learn more about your state's standards.
How many watercrafts and drivers can I cover under one policy? Is there an advantage to covering multiple watercrafts in one policy?
You can insure as many as 5 drivers and 4 watercrafts under one policy, and yes, there's a definite benefit. The more watercrafts you insure under a single policy, the higher the discount you'll receive — as much as 35 percent for 4 watercrafts.
My 15-year-old daughter wants to ride my PWC. Can I cover her under my policy?
No. Your child must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid drivers license to be included in your PWC insurance policy.
Also note that most PWC manufacturers suggest that riders be at least 16. Many states have a defined minimum age for drivers of PWCs, so check your state's regulations.
Do I actually need PWC insurance?
PWC insurance isn't legally required — but then again, neither are health and life insurance. Your personal watercraft represents a significant investment, so it makes sense to protect it and those riding it.
Will my home insurance cover my personal watercraft?
You can add your PWC to your home insurance policy, but your coverage will be limited. Home insurance only provides basic liability coverage for PWCs, leaving you without many of the special options offered through Esurance, including:
- Actual cash value total loss replacement
- Disappearing deductibles
- Emergency towing and labor
- Fuel spill liability
- Wreckage removal coverage
- Uninsured/underinsured boaters coverage
- Roadside assistance
Find out more about these coverages and their importance.
I'd really like to save on PWC insurance. What's the minimum amount of coverage I'll need?
While there are no requirements on personal watercraft insurance, the most basic coverages are bodily injury and property damage liability with minimum limits defined by your state's Department of Insurance. But, as with most types of insurance, it's a good idea not to skimp on:
- Uninsured boater
- Medical payments
- Comprehensive and collision options
These standard options will cover you for others' injuries and property damage, help with your own medical payments, protect you against losses due to theft, fire, and other natural phenomena, and even provide for replacement of your PWC in case of a total loss.
When you customize your quote, consider the many other coverage options offered through Esurance to make sure you're fully protected.

How much is PWC insurance?
In general, PWC insurance is very affordable, with basic coverage costing as little as $100 a year. As with any other form of insurance, individual rates depend on the type of watercraft you want to insure, your intended use of it, and many other less-obvious factors, including personal details like your age and marital status. With all these factors involved, it can be difficult to provide a firm number.

To get the most accurate PWC insurance quote, you'll need:
- Details on the watercraft you want to insure:
- Type of engine
- Hull material
- Maximum speed
- Modifications, if any
- Info on the trailer used to haul your PWC

- Your current or most recent insurer's info

Can I get a quote even if I haven't bought my PWC yet?
You can get your quote online or over the phone anytime. To get the most accurate quote, gather as much info about your personal watercraft as possible before you get started.
How soon will my PWC insurance go into effect?
When you get your quote, you'll be able to set the start date of your policy. When that day comes, you're ready to hit the waters.
If another provider currently covers you, make sure your new policy's start date coincides with the old policy's end date. Lapses in coverage can have a negative effect on your premiums.
