What does your auto insurance company do to protect the environment?

Convenience isn't the only perk of doing business with an online auto insurance company. When you become an Esurance policyholder, you're also doing your part for the environment. That's because Esurance is committed to protecting our natural resources and giving back to our community.

Our paperless customer experience is probably the most visible measure Esurance takes to protect the environment. By buying their auto insurance online and using electronic documents, we estimate that Esurance policyholders have helped save over 3,520 trees since 2000.* And because even virtually paperless companies still have to use paper sometimes, we ask our policyholders to help us choose which tree planting projects to fund (As a result, our support of these organizations has led to the planting of more than 85,000 trees).

That's not all Esurance does for the environment, however. Esurance proudly sponsors several environmental organizations and takes part in events around our community. Because we're an auto insurance company, we also try to set an example with the cars we drive. That's why we use hybrid claims vehicles. Hybrids get 10 to 20 more miles per gallon than conventional vehicles, which greatly reduces carbon emissions!

At Esurance, we're not just insurance nuts, we're members of the community as well. Because of this, we like to give back all we can. Each and every day we work to make our insurance company as environmentally friendly as possible. As our insurance company grows, we hope to find even more ways to improve our relationship with the environment. We only have one earth, so whether you're an Esurance policyholder or not, we hope you'll do your part to keep this planet green.

*This number is based on number of policyholders; average number of communications required for our average policyholder; and external estimates on paper production, which state that it takes 1 tree to produce 80,500 sheets of paper. If you're trying to do the math, yes, we would have to send 20,000,000 pieces of paper each year if we didn't offer electronic documents and communicate electronically! And that doesn't even include envelopes!!
