Frequently asked questions
Traveling with auto insurance coverage

Will emergency road service (ERS) coverage work in other states?

When you're far from home, the last thing you need is for your car to break down. Unfortunately, it happens. If you get stuck, especially in a rural area, towing can be quite expensive. However, if you have ERS as part of your Esurance auto insurance coverage, much of that cost will be alleviated.

ERS is an optional auto insurance coverage that helps pay for the cost of towing your car if it becomes disabled — which is a big relief — especially if your car needs to be towed a long distance.

Just like your auto insurance coverage, ERS will cover you no matter where you are in the U.S. So if you're driving from California to New York and your car breaks down in Michigan, you have no need to fear.

Esurance also offers rental car coverage, which helps pay for the cost of a rental car if your insured car is stolen or damaged in an accident. Together, ERS and rental car coverage could save you quite a bit of money if something happens to your car.

When you're buying your auto insurance coverage, we suggest that you check out some optional coverages as well. Emergency road service, for one, only costs a few extra dollars, but it can save you a lot if your car's ever towed.
