______

Required ATV insurance coverages

What ATV insurance coverage do I absolutely need?

This will depend on your state's regulations, so check with your Department of Motor Vehicles. Liability coverage, for example, might be required, and pays for injuries to people and damage to property caused by your ATV. Liability coverage also protects your assets, up to the limits you choose. If you want more protection, add comprehensive and collision coverages, which help pay for repairs or even replacement if your ATV's damaged in a collision, stolen, or buried in a rock slide. Does my ATV insurance policy cover me when I ride other ATVs?

This depends on the other ATV you're riding. If it's a rental, your ATV insurance coverage still applies. If you're riding an ATV you own or can regularly use but that isn't included in your policy, coverage might not apply. Check your policy contract for details.

Does my ATV insurance policy cover me if I ride across the border to Canada or Mexico? How about if I take my ATV abroad?

While each policy is different, an ATV insurance policy from our partner generally will cover you when you ride in Canada, and generally will not cover you while in Mexico or abroad. We recommend speaking with a licensed agent to determine the best way to secure coverage before you ride across the border or overseas.

Will my ATV insurance protect me if I ride my vehicle on public roads?

Generally yes. Note, however, that some states may not allow on-road operation of ATVs, and others may allow on-road use only if the ATV has certain modifications — such as the addition of headlights and taillights, street tires, turn signals, etc. Check with your local DMV to see what's permitted.

Will my ATV insurance policy cover the costs if I get into an accident with an uninsured/underinsured motorist?

ATV insurance offered through Esurance gives you the option of adding uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage to your policy. We recommend adding this coverage to protect yourself from undeserved out-of-pocket expenses in case you're involved in a crash with an uninsured or underinsured driver.

Will my ATV insurance cover passengers riding on my ATV?

Yes, various coverages such as bodily injury liability, medical payments, and uninsured motorist coverage will cover your passengers up to the limits specified. Please note that there might be exclusions to bodily injury liability coverage for injuries to passengers who are relatives that reside with you.

My ATV is currently in the shop, but I've rented one in the meantime. Will my insurance policy cover my rental?

Yes, the ATV insurance offered through Esurance provides worry-free coverage for your rental ATV at no extra cost.

I only ride my ATV a few months out of the year. Can I opt to maintain my policy only during those months?

You can, but gaps in coverage can leave you unprotected against things like fire, theft, and vandalism. Plus, you might want to ride on warm days during the off-months.

Finally, with the ATV insurance offered through Esurance, if you keep your policy in place year-round, you can earn benefits and loyalty rewards like accident forgiveness.

Will my ATV insurance cover me on vacation?

Yes, your coverage follows you while ATVing throughout the United States and Canada. Also, you can add trip interruption coverage for just $5 a year. This unique coverage pays up to $500 per disablement to help with lodging, food, and transportation when you're more than 100 miles from home.

I transport my ATV with a trailer. Is there a plan that will help me protect it?

There sure is. When you buy ATV insurance through Esurance, you'll have the option of adding transport trailer coverage. This provides $10,000 worth of physical damage coverage to trailers used to transport your recreational vehicle. If you have car insurance with transport trailer protection, you won't need additional coverage since your trailer will already be covered by your car insurance policy.

I have a trailer attached to my ATV. Does my ATV insurance policy cover that as well?

Comprehensive and collision coverages protect accessories such as trailers. Comprehensive and collision coverages usually come with $3,000 of accessory coverage, and you can buy up to $30,000 of coverage if you'd like more protection.
