California Department of Motor Vehicles

When you’re an Esurance policyholder, renewing your California registration is simple. If you’re eligible to renew online, you’ll find your unique Registration Identification Number (RIN) along with instructions on when you can renew when you receive your renewal notice in the mail. (Your RIN is only active for a certain length of time, so make sure you renew during the timeframe your notice specifies, or you may have to make a trip to the DMV!) Your RIN should look like this: https://vrir.dmv.ca.gov/vrir/step1b.jsp.
Besides renewing your registration tags, at www.dmv.ca.gov you can also pay tickets, register to vote, order special license plates, and make appointments. Take a look at the site to find out what you can do online, or make an appointment so you don’t have to wait in line.
Shop for a Car
If you’re in the market for a new car or one that’s new to you, consider beginning your search online. Use the Internet to decide which cars you like and then learn everything from price to gas mileage and features available. You can also search for the closest dealership to schedule your test drive.
Check out Web sites like Autobytel and Edmunds to figure out which vehicle models will suit you best. Then, go to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration’s site at www.nhtsa.dot.gov.com, to find out how well the models you like will protect you in an accident.
Be sure to look for a vehicle that contains current safety features like air bags and head and neck restraints. Not only could they save your life, they may help you save on auto insurance.
