But our commitment to the environment doesn't stop there. We bring this mindset to all of our sponsorships ... from basketball in Oakland to tennis in Queens, we bring a little green with us wherever we go.
Making our sports sponsorships green
Golden State Warriors – Bay Area, California
Esurance began sponsoring the Golden State Warriors during the 2008–2009 season. After a successful co-sponsored tree-planting event for NBA Green Week, we decided to add a green component to our sponsorship year round. Enter the Green Mob — a group of Esurance associates and Warriors players and staff who raise public awareness about environmental issues.
The mob has handed out commuter cards, beautified communities, and hosted a variety of green-themed events. Naturally, a large group of people wearing green t-shirts gets attention, but when a handful of those people are nearly 7 feet tall, passers-by tend to take a second look. And that's exactly what we're aiming for. When fans see their favorite Warriors players going green, we hope they'll come along for the ride.
The US Open – Queens, New York
New York is known for its exceptional public transportation system, so it's only natural that Esurance — sponsor of the US Open since 2010 — would promote taking public transportation to and from the event. Each year, we give away thousands of MetroCards with the hope that a free ride will encourage repeat use.

Outside Lands Music Festival – San Francisco, California
Considering Outside Lands takes place in our own backyard, it's only fitting that Esurance would sponsor the event. With some of the biggest names in music performing, this 3-day festival brings nearly 200,000 music lovers into Golden Gate Park each year. And since 2011, our sponsorship efforts have included providing shuttle services to and from the event and rewarding concertgoers for taking public transportation (or biking).
Bite of Seattle – Seattle, Washington
An awesome event for foodies and music lovers alike, Comcast Bite of Seattle shines the spotlight on some of the best local restaurants and musicians the city has to offer. To reduce the inevitable waste created by the event, Esurance partnered with Seattle Tilth to provide compost and recycling bins and educate event-goers on proper waste disposal. Composters received giveaways as a reward for eliminating their food waste.
Partnering with environmental agencies
Recycled Rides – Nationwide
is a community awareness project that donates "recycled" vehicles to families and service organizations in need. The program recruits auto body shops, insurers, paint suppliers, and parts vendors to contribute their talents.
Since 2009 we've helped donate more than 20 vehicles to deserving members of local communities across the U.S. One highlight includes donating a recycled ride to a veteran and single mother of 3 battling breast and pancreatic cancer.
