11/18/08 Climate Action Week with EarthCorps in Seattle What started in 2007 as a day to plant trees and restore the Pacific Northwest's environment evolved into a week-long event at 9 different sites in 2008. This year's Climate Action Week focused on food carbon footprints and provided attendees with information on local farmers' markets, plantable seed cards, and hands-on experience improving neighborhood parks in and around Seattle.

11/14/08 The Learning Tree Greener Schools Planting with Texas Trees Foundation Esurance associates turned out to Skyline High School in Dallas to plant 30 trees on campus grounds with the Texas Trees Foundation. This hands-on educational opportunity models sustainable education and helps create better stewards of the land.

10/25/08 Northeast Denver's Big Dig with The Park People and Esurance
Esurance volunteers joined The Park People to plant 500 trees in underserved Denver neighborhoods. These trees contributed to Tree by Tree – the Mile High Million program, a mandate initiated by Mayor Hickenlooper to add 1 million new trees to the Denver metropolitan area by 2025.

10/21/08 Brower Youth Awards in San Francisco Esurance continues to sponsor the annual Brower Youth Awards, which honors young environmental leaders from all over the world. This year, the Brower Youth Award winners also teamed up with 50 volunteer associates from Esurance corporate headquarters for a massive habitat restoration effort at the UCSF Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve.

10/11/08 Kids 'n Trees with Friends of the Urban Forest, San Francisco Over 300 children and parents gathered at San Francisco's newest park to celebrate our environment with Friends of the Urban Forest. The event included performances by the Sippy Cups, hands-on nature exhibits, and even a traveling reptile zoo.

9/29/08 California Coastal Cleanup Day Esurance associates were on hand to participate in California Coastal Cleanup Day, which focused on the marine environment. Approximately 64,000 volunteers showed up on California's beaches, shorelines, and inland waterways to collect trash and debris. Volunteers collected 814,154 pounds of trash and an additional 132,277 pounds of recyclable materials.

9/11/08 Esurance Teams with Monolith Festival for Annual Reforestation Project The Park People dig in with the folks at Esurance for the Monolith Music Festival's Annual Reforestation Project. This year's project was held at Cerebral Palsy of Colorado's brand new campus in Denver. Over 570 children gathered to participate in tree plantings and gain some hands-on environmental education. The eco-indie rock band Cloud Cult also played for the youngsters.

The Greening of Detroit Building Renovation With the support of Esurance, The Greening of Detroit recently completed their new building renovation. On June 19, they hosted an open house to showcase their new space. There is now room for additional staff members and space for the Garden Resource Program. In addition, the new building will host the Tool Bank, a program that lends resources to communities creating healthier environments.

Esurance Temple Terrace Cleanup and Tree Planting In under half an hour, 32 volunteers planted 38 trees in Temple Terrace, Florida. Litter was also removed from the surrounding area during this event as part of the Great American Cleanup.

Degolyer Elementary Garden of Discovery Dedication Ceremony Esurance partners with Project Learning Tree and the GreenWorks! Grant Initiative to fund environmental learning projects in schools near our regional offices. Degolyer Elementary in Dallas created the Garden of Discovery to help 4th and 5th graders learn about earth sciences in a hands-on manner.

Earth Day with the SF Giants Esurance teamed up with the San Francisco Giants to celebrate the first ever Earth Day at AT&T Park. Our environmental partner Friends of the Urban Forest received a $50,000 donation from Esurance, and threw out the first pitch of the game.
