FAQ: Traveling With Auto Insurance Coverage
I’m being deployed by the military, what can I do about my auto insurance coverage?
The employees of Esurance are very grateful to the men and women who serve this country. In order to say thanks, Esurance is pleased to offer special privileges to our troops. Before you ship off, you probably have a lot to think about and we’re guessing that auto insurance coverage isn’t at the top of your list. In order to ease some of the burden, we’ve made it easy to cancel and reinstate your auto insurance coverage if you’re being deployed.
Before You Leave
When you deploy, you should cancel your current coverage if your car is going to be in storage or if you’re planning to sell it. Then, when you return, buy a new auto insurance policy from Esurance and we’ll waive any penalties you might have incurred out of respect for your service to our country.
How to Cancel
To cancel your policy, send an email to cancellations@central.esurance.com. In your email, state your name, your policy number, and the date you’d like your coverage to end. Also state that you’re canceling your auto insurance coverage because you’ve been deployed. By stating this, we’ll be sure to waive any standard cancellation fees.
How to Reinstate Your Policy
When you return, give us a call to buy your new auto insurance policy. We’ll just need a letter from your commanding officer stating that you’ve been in the military for the dates you’ve served, and that you haven’t driven any civilian vehicles during that time.
