FAQ: Managing Your Esurance Account Online

How do I change information about the car(s) listed on my auto insurance policy?

With the popularity of car leasing, it seems as though people are slipping into something new every couple years. Sometimes it’s just a newer model of the same car, but other times we splurge and go for that sports car we’ve been fantasizing about. Whether you’re planning for a family or for a midlife crisis, it’s important to keep your auto insurance policy updated. Fortunately, when you’re an Esurance policyholder, keeping your auto insurance policy current is easy!

Changing information about the car(s) listed on your auto insurance policy takes only minutes. After you log into your Esurance account, you’ll see a summary of your account information. If you need to make changes to your car’s information, or if you need to remove a car, click on the "edit cars" button next to the car information on your policy summary.

To add a car to your policy, simply click on the "add car" button and fill in the new car’s information. You can also edit your car information by going to the "Cars" tab at the top of the page.

Your auto insurance policy rates can change based on the type of car you drive. For instance, if you’ve decided to trade in your SUV for a Hybrid, you’re likely to see a decrease in your premium. On the other hand, if you’ve gone from a 4-door sedan to a flashy red sports car, chances are you’ll be paying more for your auto insurance. Check out the Esurance Insight, "Auto Insurance & Your Vehicle," for more information on how the car you drive can affect your auto insurance rates.
