  • Walk the walk. Studies have proven that walking 30 minutes a day can lower your blood pressure and decrease your risk for heart attacks, strokes, and diabetes. In addition, walking offers psychological benefits and can increase serenity and reduce stress. Here are a few simple ways to add more walking to your day: Park further away at the grocery store, bank or Post Office, take the stairs instead of the elevator, or walk for 15 minutes on your lunch break. It may not seem like much, but it will all add up to 30 minutes before you know it. And those 30 minutes will go a long way to helping you stay healthy and happy.

  • Easy rider. Of course, not everyone can ride a bike to work, but if you can, take advantage of this opportunity for some free exercise. Bike riding offers an excellent, no-impact cardio workout, and as an added bonus, it's a great way to reduce your carbon footprint. You can be healthy and save all kinds of green in the process.

  • Dance! Exercise can sometimes be overwhelming, and sometimes a drag. But it doesn't have to be. Consider taking dance lessons as an alternative to part of your weekly workout routine. Sign up for swing or tap lessons with your partner or a friend. It may not feel like exercise, but the benefits of getting your body moving and doing something you enjoy can be priceless.

  • Play ball. If you're more of a sports buff than a dancer, join a team. Whether you like basketball, baseball, soccer, football, hockey or roller derby, being part of an athletic team is a great way to get exercise on a regular basis and have fun in the process!

  • Yoga yourself. Yoga may seem, at first glance, like a lot of sissy stuff, but don't underestimate the many health benefits to be gained from this ancient exercise. Yoga can increase flexibility, strength, and muscle tone as well as mental calmness and clarity. In addition, yoga strengthens the body, allows for better breathing and reduces stress. Just 15 quick minutes of yoga in the morning can provide a wealth of health benefits and make you feel stronger and happier all day long.

It doesn't take much exercise to make a world of difference— 10-15 minutes here and there is more beneficial than you might think and certainly much better than nothing! Hopefully these quick and easy exercise tips will help you to add more movement to your life.
